By Atlantic League Independent Wire Services on June 15, 2009
(Bridgeport, CT – June 14, 2009) – The Bridgeport Bluefish lost the final game of the three-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Sunday 5-3 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The Bluefish put together a rally in the bottom of the seventh starting the inning with back-to-back singles by Ryner Bautista and Todd Davidson. Bautista advanced to third on a fielder’s choice ground ball by Adam Greenberg and Enohel Polanco walked to load the bases. Ryan Radmanovich followed with a double that was crushed off of the right field wall scoring all three runners. Brandon Sing then roped single into center field advancing Radmanovich to third and knocking Blue Crabs starter Joe Gannon out of the game. However, the rally would fall short as Luis Rodriguez popped out and Colin Roberson flied out to left field to end the inning.
Workhorse right-hander Esteban Yan (4-2) threw another complete game for the Bluefish allowing five runs on as many hits and two walks, while striking out six. Blue Crabs starter Joe Gannon (5-5) picked up the win allowing three runs on 10 hits and two walks while recording one strikeout. Southern Maryland reliever Matt Hensley picked up his first save of the season.
Colin Roberson had an impressive debut for the Bluefish going 2-for-4. Roberson joined Radmanovich (2-for-5, three RBI) and Brandon Sing as the three starters with multi-hit game as Bridgeport out hit Southern Maryland 10 to five.
