York Wins Game 1, 5-0, Over Ducks thumbnail

York, PA – Dan Foli fired 8.0 scoreless innings, and the York Revolution took the opening game of Saturday’s day-night doubleheader, shutting out the Long Island Ducks 5-0 at Sovereign Bank Stadium.  It is the fifth win in the last six home games for the Revs, who will host the Ducks in the nightcap at 7 p.m.

Foli’s 8.0 innings were a career-high for the right-hander, as he earned his first win of the season.  He scattered six hits, and rolled three double play grounders.  It was the second straight game that the Revs turned a season-high three double plays.

Travis Hughes fired a 1-2-3 ninth to finish it off.

The Revs got on the board on when Matt Esquivel scored on a throwing error in the second, and then rang off three more runs in the sixth to open a 4-0 lead.  Jeff Eure plated a run on a fielder’s choice to third, legging out the throw to first to avoid the inning-ending double play.  Luis Taveras then collected the big hit, a two-run double to the gap in left-center.  It was the second straight game that the Revs scored three runs in the sixth inning.

The Revs added one more in the eighth on Colin Roberson’s sac fly.

It is York’s third straight win at home, and second consecutive win overall.

Corey Thurman will face Julio Manon in game two tonight.  It is a Scratch-Off Saturday with a baseball card giveaway presented by Ettline Foods and WSBA to the first 2,500 fans.  There will also be Postgame Fireworks presented by FlipSide.
