Ducks vs Revs Postponed
By Atlantic League Independent Wire Services on June 4, 2009
York, PA – Due to forecasted rain tonight, and forecasted sunshine for the weekend, tonight’s scheduled game between the York Revolution and the Long Island Ducks at Sovereign Bank Stadium has been moved to 12 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. It will be part of a day-night doubleheader, with a night game already scheduled for 7 p.m.
All tickets from Thursday night’s game will be honored for Saturday’s noon game. The noon game on Saturday will also feature Thursday night’s scheduled giveaway, the Team Baseball Card Strip, presented by Pizza Hut and WSBA, to the first 2,000 fans.
Saturday’s day-night doubleheader will be the second in less than two weeks at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Revs swept a day-night doubleheader on Memorial Day, beating both the Bridgeport Bluefish and Camden Riversharks in come-from-behind fashion, becoming the first Atlantic League team in history to defeat two different opponents on the same day.
It marks the second of four day-night doubleheaders already on the schedule. The Revs will host the Lancaster Barnstormers in a day-night twinbill the following Saturday on June 13, and will also get together with the Barnstormers for a split, two-city day-night doubleheader on Saturday, July 18.
With this spring’s inclement weather, it is already the fifth rainout of the season, all during scheduled home games for the Revolution. That already establishes a new record for rainouts at home in a single season, with there only being a combined five rainouts in the first two seasons. Saturday marks the fourth doubleheader overall of the 2009 season.
The four-game series between the Revolution and the Ducks will now open on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Sovereign Bank Stadium, on National Donut Day. If the Revs throw a shutout on Friday night, all fans in attendance will receive free donuts for a month, courtesy of Maple Donuts and owner Charlie Burnside. It will also be a Shurfine Friday with Baseball Bingo, and the Big Hitters will perform.
Saturday’s 7 p.m. game features Postgame Fireworks presented by FlipSide, and it’s a Scratch-Off Saturday presented by Ettline Foods and WSBA, with the first 2,500 fans receiving a baseball card with a scratch-off prize guaranteed on each card.
The series wraps up on Sunday at 5 p.m. on Cancer Survivor’s Day. The Revs will wear their Pink Jerseys courtesy of Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union. Those game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off during the game to benefit the York Cancer Center’s Patient Help Fund. It will also be an Autograph Sunday, with Catch On The Field before the game, and Kids Run the Bases postgame presented by rabbittransit.
All tickets for the 2009 season are now on sale.
