Pats Top Fish, 10-7

(Bridgeport, CT – May 27, 2009) – The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Somerset Patriots in the second game of a three-game series on Wednesday 10-7 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The Fish’s offense showed up late as they were unable to overcome a tough deficit. The Bluefish scored two runs in the third inning to bring the game within a run but that was as close as they would get as Somerset was able to keep the Bluefish at bay. Luis Lopez went 1-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Charlie Lisk also enjoyed a successful day at the plate going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Bluefish starter Kyle Jackson (4-2) suffered his second loss of the season allowing four earned runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out six over five innings of work. Ryan DiPietro came in relief and added two scoreless frames for the ‘Fish.
Josh Miller (4-2) was credited with the win after going seven innings and allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks. Elliott Ayala provided most of the spark for the Patriots by going 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI.
The Bluefish and Patriots play game three of their three game series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Lefthander Corey Lee will be on the mound for the Bluefish, and will be opposed by Patriots starter Jim Magrane.
