Pats Blast Lancaster, 10-0

Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 10-0 in front of 6,005 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon.
Somerset took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning after right fielder Matt Hagen singled, stole second, catcher Jason Belcher walked, and shortstop Anthony Granato flied to center to score Hagen. Centerfielder Sean Smith then doubled to right field to plate Belcher.
The Patriots added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Granato walked, advanced to third base, and scored on a wild pitch.
Somerset increased their lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after first baseman Josh Pressley singled, third baseman Jeff Nettles singled, and Hagen doubled to score Pressley. Belcher followed with a single to score Nettles and Hagen reached home on an error by left fielder David Housel. Smith finished off the rally with a single to score Belcher and make the score 7-0.
The Patriots added three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning after Belcher doubled, Granato singled, and Smith followed with a home run (1) to make the score 10-0.
Patriots starting pitcher Brian Adams (3-2) picked up the win, allowing five hits and four strikeouts in seven scoreless innings pitched. Barnstormers starter Eric Ackerman (2-1) got the loss, surrendering seven runs, six earned, on eight hits in four innings pitched.
