Somerset Storms Lancaster, 10-3

Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 10-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Monday evening.
Somerset took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning after third baseman Jeff Nettles walked, catcher Travis Anderson doubled, and second baseman Teuris Olivares singled home Nettles. Shortstop Anthony Granato followed with a two-run double to plate Anderson and Olivares.
Lancaster cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning when shortstop Lloyd Turner doubled and second baseman Danny Bravo followed with an RBI double to score Turner.
The Barnstormers cut the lead to one in the top of the third inning. Catcher Jed Morris singled, designated hitter Ryan Mulhern doubled, and first baseman Bryan Sabatella hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Morris.
Lancaster tied the game in the top of the fifth inning when Bravo walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single by right fielder L.J. Biernbaum to make the score 3-3.
Somerset took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after designated hitter Noah Hall singled and first baseman Josh Pressley doubled to score Hall. Right fielder Matt Hagen followed with a single to score Pressley and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Anderson walked, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Olivares. Granato hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 7-3.
The Patriots added to their lead in the bottom of the eighth inning after Anderson doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single by Olivares. Granato followed with a single advancing Olivares to second base. Left fielder Joe Burke hit a fly ball that was dropped by left fielder Michael Woods to score both Olivares and Granato to make the score 10-3.
Patriots reliever Tip Fairchild (1-0) picked up the win with three innings pitched, allowing two hits, and four strikeouts. Barnstormers starting pitcher Tom Cochran (2-2) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings pitched.
