Henry Mateo Goes 3-for-5 as Bluefish Beat Bears

Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Newark Bears in the second game of their three-game series on Saturday 10-6 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The Bluefish bats were awakened as manager Tommy John changed up his line up putting catcher Charlie Lisk in leftfield and outfielder Brandon Sing at first base. Henry Mateo impressed the fans once again with his bat by going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI. Brandon Sing also delivered batting in the clean up spot for only the second time this year. Sing went 1-for-3 with a run scored, two walks and a home run in the eighth inning.
Dan Reichert (2-3) earned his second win of the season after allowing eight hits, two earned runs, a walk and struck out five over six innings of work. Matt Pike followed Reichert’s exit, lasting an inning and allowing a walk and struck out one. Esteban Yan closed the door for the ‘Fish with a scoreless inning of relief.
Ryan Bukvich (2-2) took the loss for the Bears lasting three and one third innings allowing five hits, seven runs, five walks, and struck out three. Rob Mackowiak helped the Bears stay in the game by going 3-for-5 with a run scored, four RBI, and his first home run of the season.
The Bluefish and Bears play the rubber game of their three game series tomorrow beginning at 2:05 p.m. All fans in attendance will be treated to a pre-game autograph session beginning at 1:20 p.m. and following the game all kids and kids at heart will have the opportunity to run the bases like their favorite Bluefish players.
