Ducks Sign Dittler

Central Islip, N.Y.- The Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of pitcher Jake Dittler.
“Jake helps us add more quality pitching to our staff,” says Ducks manager Gary Carter. “We’re excited to have him on board.”
The Nevada native joins Long Island after spending the 2008 season with Frisco (AA, Rangers) of the Texas League and Camden of the Atlantic League. The right hander went 2-1 in four starts (including playoffs) against the Ducks in ’08 and was a key factor down the stretch in helping Camden capture the 2008 Liberty Division championship. Prior to last season, Dittler had spent his entire career in the Indians system, posting 49 career wins and 591 strikeouts. The 26-year-old was selected by the Indians in the second round of the 2001 draft.
In order to make room on the roster, the Ducks announced that infielder Ron Davenport has been placed on the inactive list.
