Jackson Shines as Bats and Fireworks Explode

Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the York Revolution 5-2 on Saturday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The runs were scarce at first as both teams were scoreless going into the bottom of the fourth inning. Jordan Czarniecki connected on a solo home run to centerfield to give the Bluefish a 1-0 lead. Bridgeport added to their lead in the fifth, scoring three runs sparked by a lead-off triple from Adam Greenberg. Greenberg scored on a Henry Mateo single as Mateo went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Charlie Lisk also contributed by going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Kyle Jackson (1-0) took the mound for the ‘Fish and went five innings allowing no runs and striking out three. Former University of New Haven Charger Steve Bray pitched three innings in relief allowing only one run and one hit following Jackson’s outing. Casey Hoorelbeke made his first appearance of the year entering the game in the ninth inning allowing one run on one hit and striking out one.
Mike Smith (0-1) took the loss for the Revolution. Smith lasted four innings allowing one run on three hits and striking out three.
The Bluefish and Revolution play the final game of their opening four game series tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. Former Major Leaguer Corey Lee will take the hill for the Bluefish and will be opposed by Revolution starter Corey Thurman. Gates open at 1:05 p.m. and all fans will be treated to a pre-game autograph session, starting at 1:20 p.m. and following the game, all kids and kids at heart will have the opportunity to run the bases.
