York Beats Long Island to Even Weekend Set

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution on Sunday 6-2 before a sellout crowd of 6,070 at Citibank Park.
Corey Thurman (4-5) shut down the Long Island offense through seven innings, giving up just two runs on eight scattered hits. The righthander issued no walks and struck out three to improve to 4-0 since June 1. Donovan Osborne (0-2) allowed five runs on 11 hits while taking the loss for the Ducks. Ben Grezlovski allowed just one run in two innings of relief, while Vic Darensbourg and Abe Alvarez pitched a perfect inning apiece. Matt Trent and Dan Foli combined to work the final two frames for York.
The Revolution were led by Tyler Von Schell, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, including a two-run double and a two-run homer. Keoni De Renne and Chris Ashby each had two hits, and Matt Esquivel set the tone early with an RBI single in the first. Eight of the nine Ducks starters had at least one hit, including Nook Logan in his Long Island debut. Dennis Donovan led the way with a 2-for-4 effort, including an RBI double in the third. Damian Rolls hit his seventh home run in the year in the seventh inning.
The Ducks hit the road for their final stretch away from Citibank Park in the first half. The trip opens Monday with the first of a four game series against the Somerset Patriots. Gametime is slated for 7:05 p.m. Fans can catch all the action live via streaming webcast at www.liducks.com, with Mike Solano calling the play-by-play. The Flock returns home on Monday, June 30, to open a three-game set against Camden.
