Patriots Win Third In A Row Over Bluefish

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-1 at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon for their third win in a row.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Third baseman Matt Hagen singled, stole second, and later scored on an RBI groundout by second baseman Teuris Olivares.
Somerset extended the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Designated hitter Brandon Larson reached on an error and scored on first baseman Josh Pressley’s two run home run (7) to center field. Pressley has hit a home run in each of the last three games. The third run was scored on a fielder’s choice RBI.
The Bluefish got on the board with a run on a solo home run by third baseman Jesse Horrelbeke (13) in the top of the ninth inning.
Patriots starter Jim Magrane (1-6) picked up his first win of the season, allowing an earned run on five hits and nine strikeouts in eight innings pitched. Bridgeport starter Barry Hertzler (3-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, on eight hits in eight innings. Casey Cahill earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
