Pressley Wins It For Patriots In The Ninth

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 7-6 on a game-winning solo home run by designated hitter Josh Pressley (5) in the bottom of the ninth inning before a season high 7,887 fans at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Friday night.
Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Catcher Shea Harris drew a walk and later scored on a throwing error.
The Patriots took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Center fielder Sean Smith singled on a bunt and stole second. After left fielder Michael Ryan drew a walk, Pressley followed with an RBI single. Right fielder Ryan Radmanovich plated two runs with a double to right center field.
The Bluefish cut the lead to 3-2 with a run in the top of the fourth inning. Right fielder Ryan Bear doubled and scored on an RBI single by designated hitter Calvin Pickering.
Bridgeport tied up the game with a run in the top of the fifth inning. Second baseman Henry Mateo singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by third baseman Luis Lopez.
The Bluefish regained the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Center fielder Travis Ezi walked and scored on an RBI double by Mateo. Lopez followed with an RBI double to make the score 5-3.
Somerset wasted no time, scoring three runs to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Smith was hit by a pitch and stole second. Ryan reached on a single and third baseman Brandon Larson cleared the bases with a two-run triple. Pressley then made the score 6-5 with an RBI single.
The Bluefish tied it up again in the top of the eighth inning on a solo home run by Pickering (7).
Patriots reliever Casey Cahill (4-2) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Bluefish reliever Franklin Perez (2-2) suffered the loss.
The 2008 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Saturday night with a 7:05 pm game against the Bridgeport Bluefish. The game includes Slider Bobblehead Dolls for the first 2,000 fans in attendance courtesy of TMNG Global.
