Bret Prinz Signed by Oakland

BRIDGEWATER, NJ- The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that closer Bret Prinz has been signed by the Oakland Athletics and will report to Triple-A in Sacramento.
Prinz led the Atlantic League in saves with 13 this season. He had a 0.56 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched in 16 games for Somerset.
Prinz has 102 games of Major League experience over seven seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the Chicago White Sox. He last played in the Major Leagues last season with the White Sox.
Prinz has a Major League career 5-4 record with a 4.89 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 92 innings pitched.
He has spent most of his career at the Triple-A level and has a minor league career 29-19 record with a 3.65 ERA and 387 strikeouts in 257 games.
Prinz spent the entire 2007 season either at the Triple-A level or the Major Leagues. He last played at Indianapolis, the Triple-A affiliate for the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he had a 1.29 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 14 games pitched.
He is the second Patriots’ pitcher signed this week, joining starter Brandon Knight, who was signed by the New York Mets and reported to Triple-A.
The 2008 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Thursday, June 5th when the Patriots return to Commerce Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. The game kicks off Commerce Bank Ballpark’s 10th Anniversary Celebration with Ballpark Posters for the first 2,000 fans in attendance, courtesy of Barefoot Wine.
